MediaTek Brings MT5596 Processor for Android 6.0 TV

Smart TV has just entered the 64-bit and Android 5.0 era last year, and now Android 5.0 system smart TV is still not popular. However, MediaTek has already sunk the Android 6.0 operating system smart TV. It seems that MediaTek has also devoted itself to selling smart TV chips.

The Android 6.0 smart TV brought by MediaTek is naturally a prototype for providing solutions using MediaTek chips. The TV is equipped with MediaTek's new TV processor MT5596, uses four A53 CPU cores, and finally supports 64-bit, GPU is also the new Mali-T860.

For video encoding and decoding, MT5596 widely supports 4K H.265/VP9, 10-bit, 4K/60fps, and it is quite powerful for both playing and recording. In addition, it supports HDR, Super Resolution, ClearMotion PQ and other image enhancement technologies.

On the system side, Android TV 6.0 brought new store designs, as well as some user and application security enhancements, and also joined the children's model.

From this prototype, it can be seen that MT5596 will become the main player of MediaTek in the field of smart TV chips. In addition to the performance of mainstream processors, the choice of GPU is also a major highlight. At present, the Mali-T720 is already the leader of the GPU selected for smart TVs. Now the Mali-T860 brought by MediaTek is believed to be a great impact on current smart TV hardware. Of course, this is undoubtedly a good news for video games.
