Samsung pushes multi-functional smart lighting module to attack smart city market

Samsung introduced the Multi-Function Smart Lighting Module (SLM). The module is the building block of the Internet of Things. In addition to the lighting function, it also integrates a variety of communication technologies for the first time, which can speed up the development of smart lighting systems, reduce risks and improve quality, while reducing time to market. In addition to rushing to the smart lighting market, Samsung will also promote smart building and smart city market growth.

Samsung's LED business team executive vice president JacobTarn said that Samsung's smart lighting module will be the core of the company's smart lighting platform, and also a key component in the smart lighting system. The module addresses many of the problems experienced by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in smart buildings and smart city IoT applications.

The module incorporates an LED lighting system that easily converts the lighting design into a smart-function digital node fixture. As a core element of the smart lighting platform, this smart lighting module can be used for smart fixtures of all types of devices, including the basic connectors used by sensors and drivers.

The new Smart Lighting Module supports all open wired and wireless protocols, including ZigBee, DALI and Bluetooth, seamlessly connecting to most sensor networks and effectively connecting to control devices such as smartphones. Greater hardware connectivity flexibility. Its scripting engine simplifies the firmware connection.

These features enable smart fixtures to become nodes within a variety of smart lighting environments, and OEMs can quickly develop custom smart lighting. Compared to manufacturers who do not use smart lighting modules, the time is reduced by as much as 50%.

Samsung said the smart partner, LED drivers, sensors, gateways connected to the cloud and supplier solutions for analytics solutions will strengthen the company's end-to-end connectivity solution. Samsung's key partners include Daintree for indoor applications, Silver Spring Networks for outdoor applications, and FLIR systems for thermal imaging applications.
