The DLC 4.0 standard is about to introduce your product with high enough light efficiency?

In November last year, the new 3.1 specification issued by DLC incorporated wall-mounted lamps and corn lamps into the certification category, which brought new development opportunities to domestic export enterprises. After a lapse of four months, DLC plans to introduce the 4.0 standard again, and this standard will focus on improving the light efficiency requirements of the product, which is more important for domestic export companies.

“In the United States, DLC certification is a non-mandatory certification, but its importance cannot be ignored.” Nie Pengxiang, chairman of the incentive test, mentioned that DLC is about non-domestic lamps such as high bay lights, high bay lights, floodlights, and lamps. ENERGY STAR certification for lighting products can provide end-users with government subsidies. This also leads to the use of DLC certified products as the first choice for end customers.

This time, the lamps involved include lamps, fluorescent lamps, and high-bay lamps. Taking the lamp as an example, the luminous efficacy requirement is increased from 100 lumens to 110 lumens, and the luminous efficacy requirement with the stent is increased from 85 lumens to 100 lumens.

Looking at the 2015 customs data, the second largest export volume is the LED tube. In 2015, the export volume of LED tubes (including bracket lamps) was US$927 million. It can be foreseen that the impact of this light efficiency adjustment on the export of domestic lighting companies is very large.

"According to our current situation, about 40%-60% of export lamps can't meet the DLC 4.0 standard." Nie Pengxiang said that Americans are good at making amateur things professional and market supervision is perfect. These products that are not up to standard must be upgraded before January 1, 2017, otherwise they will be removed from the list by DLC and no longer receive government subsidies.

In Nie Pengxiang's view, this adjustment of light efficiency will also bring about an increase in the cost of export lamps. "Domestic export companies are all doing OEM work, as long as they meet the DLC 4.0 light efficiency standards, certification is not what they should care about." But fortunately, the introduction of this 4.0 light efficiency standard, noticed The impact of the new standard on costs has reserved room for bargaining.

It is understood that on February 19, 2016, US time, DLC officially announced the first 4.0 standard and gave a standard revision plan. At the same time, DLC collects opinions on the following topics, and relevant information can be directly fed back to DLC. The deadline for submission of comments is March 18 (attached topics).

1. The impact of new requirements on current and developing lighting products. In assessing the impact of new requirements on products, manufacturers should consider the transition period of the new standard, that is, products certified by the current standard before January 2017 will not remove the listed names.

2. The impact of the new standard on product cost. For DLC members, the product's own price/performance ratio and influence on purchase decisions are also key factors to consider. DLC hopes that some people will provide approximate performance distributions for different performances.

3. Improve the impact of light efficiency on product quality, including optical control. DLC understands that the improvement of light efficiency may bring other trade-offs and may have a negative impact on the quality of the product.

4, color quality. With the release of the TM-30 standard, there has been a lot of discussion about the transition of CRI to TM-30, but DLC believes it is still too early to apply the standard. The DLC considers that these parameters should be reported, and the manufacturer has comments on the standard.

5. DLC has no plans to add new categories to this update. Regarding the new category of issues, the DLC will focus on research in the second quarter. Discussions about new features, such as color grading, and Power over Ethernet products, will also be discussed in the second quarter.
