LED light radiation safety series standards need to be perfected, products will be guaranteed

Recently, Professor Tong Tongsheng, professor of the Department of Optoelectronic Engineering of Zhejiang University and chairman of Hangzhou Zheda Tricolor Instrument Co., Ltd., gave a report titled "Development of International Standards and Testing Technologies for LED Optical Radiation Safety" in "International SSL Standards and Testing Lectures". In the report, Qi Tongsheng pointed out that the rapid development of high-efficiency power LEDs has promoted the promotion of LEDs in various fields, especially in general lighting applications. However, the widespread use of high-brightness LEDs has become a growing concern for potential photobioradiation safety issues. In particular, gallium nitride blue LEDs and white LEDs coated with phosphor powder, blue light radiation on the human eye retina potential damage has become a safety indicator for LED products to enter the market must be assessed. A revised version of the IEC 62471 international standard is nearing completion, and guidance documents for LED manufacturers are being developed.

In recent years, China has done a lot of work in the development of international standards for optical radiation safety, testing technology and related equipment research, and has played an important role in the international arena. Yan Tongsheng said that in recent years China has made great progress in the research and evaluation of optical radiation safety. LED optical radiation safety measurement technology and instruments have been in the international leading position. However, the biological data of optical radiation hazards in current international standards are mainly based on the research results of developed countries in Europe and America, and China's research in the field of optical radiation safety is still relatively weak.

It is understood that the China Electronics Industry Standardization Institute, the National Semiconductor Lighting LED Application Testing Center, the National Lighting Product Quality Testing Center (Zhongshan), the Hangzhou Quality Inspection Institute and the Shenzhen Building Science Research Institute have all established international standards for IEC62471.
