1 Overview

The AC03 electric trains on Shanghai Metro Line 3 were introduced at the beginning of the 21st century. These AC-driven vehicles, manufactured by Alstom of France, feature a main traction inverter composed of 1,200A/3,300V IGBT modules. The circuit design is illustrated in Figure 1. The AC03 electric train's main traction inverter circuit shares similarities with other imported AC-driven vehicles, except for the installation of a low-sensitivity dry metal film filter capacitor between OV and ground. This capacitor has a parameter of 6.8μF/640V, which helps attenuate electromagnetic interference (EMI) from high-frequency radiation.

In Figure 1, PIM1 represents the three-phase IGBT inverter module of the traction inverter. Its model is the ONIX 1500 IGBT. The structural outline is shown in Figure 2. The top section contains the filter capacitor, while the inductor is housed within the inverter box. Below this are the control circuit and drive circuit, followed by the IGBT module and the base heat sink.

The AC03 electric trains have been operational for nearly a decade. During their service life, faults have occasionally occurred in the IGBT modules of the main traction inverters. Thus, it is necessary to equip them with appropriate testing devices to identify these issues for timely maintenance and upkeep of the traction inverters.

2 Traction Inverter Module Structure and Its Working Principle

The main circuit of the traction inverter IGBT module and its control circuit block diagram are presented in Figure 3.

4 Conclusion

The test device developed through this application can effectively test and analyze the IGBT module circuits of the main traction inverter for AC03 electric trains. Since the test device offers comprehensive testing capabilities and a portable design, it provides significant convenience for the operation and maintenance departments, greatly enhancing the efficiency of inspections and maintenance tasks.

In addition to the above content, the development team has continued to optimize the test device to ensure its reliability and accuracy in detecting potential faults in the IGBT modules. The feedback from users indicates that the device not only simplifies the troubleshooting process but also significantly reduces downtime for maintenance. Future plans include integrating more advanced features such as real-time data logging and automated fault reporting, further streamlining the maintenance workflow for the AC03 electric trains.
