OSRAM LED light source provides stable illumination for extreme climate cities

Recently, a 2.6-inch new solar LED street lamp was installed along the 2.6-kilometer-long university road in Shizuishan City, Ningxia Province. The street lamp uses the OSLON SSL LED of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors as the light source, and the installation project is handled by Ke Liang Te Technology.

Nishixia Shizuishan City is close to the Gobi Desert. The weather conditions are extremely extreme. The average monthly temperature is 28 days. The temperature difference between day and night is large. The new LED street light can not only withstand the severe climate close to the desert, but also provide stable performance and uniform light, in line with the city. And the requirements set by its planners.

The 1W LED measures only 3mm x 3mm and is said to achieve excellent efficiency at all currents. Thermal management combined with consistent quality allows the street light to maintain good performance even at temperatures below minus 20 degrees Celsius.

In addition, the new LED street light is also equipped with a light sensor to control the brightness. On weekdays, the street light will continue to be illuminated for five hours at full brightness and then reduced to half brightness until dawn. Other times, the brightness can be adjusted according to different lighting conditions. Therefore, each street lamp consumes only 80W and consumes one-fifth of the power of a high-pressure sodium lamp (HPS).
