"Rez infinite" and "Pokemon Go" won the Best VR / AR Game Award of 2016 respectively

For video games, this is a sleepless night. The Oscar-TGA (The Game Awards) 2016 Awards in the game industry officially announced the winners of the awards today (December 1, 2016, US time). "Rez infinite" and "Pokemon Go" won the best VR/AR game awards respectively. This is also the first award for VR/AR games.

This is the first time the TGA Awards have been added to the "Best VR Game" category. For its part, this is a satisfactory change for a start-up industry, but the nomination has caused some controversy. All nominated games are produced by PSVR - Rift and Vive are on the list. Below is a list of nominations:

"Batman: Arkham VR" (Rocksteady Studio / WBIE) [Rating: 5/10]

"Eve: Valkyrie" (CCP game) [score: 9/10]

Work Simulator (Owlchemy Lab) [rating: 8/10]

Rez infinite (Enhance Games) [rating: 8/10] (winning)

"Drool" [score: 9/10]

Rez infinite, which won the "Best VR Game", made many VR celebrities including Oculus Rift founder Palmer Luckey even crying with excitement. Winning this award is a real name. If it better reflects the prospects of the entire VR industry in 2016, this award will make more sense.

However, the way in which "the best VR game" was announced was disappointing. Keighley simply announced the winners, no awards, awards, or on-screen information. No one even took the stage to receive the award because it happened before the official start of the award ceremony (the so-called "pre-show").

AR technology has also been recognized, and the world-famous Pokemon GO has undoubtedly won the "Best Mobile Game" and "Best Family Game" award for the development company NianTIc.

In short, this TGA Award reflects the status of VR games in the mainstream game press. Although it has not attracted enough attention, it will be better next year, isn't it?
