September: The "last train" of the whole plant

Panel Market Update

The first half of September was a crucial period for the entire plant to catch up with the peak season of global shipments. With panel prices continuing to decline, purchasing activities across the board remained strong. However, in October, the global peak season for stock preparation came to an end. Despite this, the drop in panel prices is expected to gradually filter down to the retail level, potentially reviving market demand and keeping panel prices on a steady downward trend.

32-inch: The majority of 32-inch shipments are directed toward overseas markets. In October, the overseas stock market is expected to slow down as orders decrease. Additionally, with the price gap between 40-43-inch panels narrowing from an unusually high level, some demand has shifted from 32-inch to larger sizes, putting more pressure on 32-inch pricing this month.

40-43 inches: The price difference between 32-inch and 43-inch panels has decreased from $75 at the start of the year to $55 now, which has helped stabilize demand and slow the rate of price declines.

49-50 inches: As production capacity of the 8.6-generation line increases, the market pressure on 50-inch panels is spreading to 49-inch models, leading to increased downward pressure on prices in this segment.

55-inch: Demand and supply have both grown significantly. After a major price cut in the third quarter, there’s little room left for further cost reductions, so the decline in prices has slowed down.

65-inch: At the beginning of the year, SDP reduced supply for 60-inch panels, causing some demand to shift to 65-inch models. Prices rose quickly in the first half of the year. However, as 65-inch TV panel shipments surged by 54% year-on-year in January–August 2017, while market demand failed to keep up, a severe inventory buildup occurred, leading to a sharp price drop. It's expected that after further declines in the fourth quarter, the linkage of machine prices may stimulate demand, slowing the rate of price drops.

Continental Machine Market

In September, the terminal market continued its promotional efforts, with a growing share of high-end products such as OLED, quantum dots, HDR, and curved displays contributing to an overall rise in average prices. With major brand days and the 11th shopping festival approaching, and with home appliance stores affected by tourism-related traffic shifts, the market is expected to see a slight rebound in October. The proportion of high-end products will likely be slightly lower, leading to a temporary price correction. As panel prices continue to fall, low-cost whole machines from the Q4 market are expected to enter the market gradually, pushing prices further downward.
