Last week, Sharp officially launched its first consumer-grade 8K TV in key markets including Shanghai, Taiwan, Tokyo, and Berlin. The company made a bold move by ignoring the AQUOS 8K TV-LCD-70SX970A model and instead introduced a new version of the AQUOS 8K TV. This time, Sharp announced its official launch on Tmall and Rich Connect, revealing the final price at RMB 68,888, which is approximately $10,000.

The new 70-inch model features an aviation-grade aluminum frame and chassis, built with a Japanese original 8K panel that delivers a resolution of 7680 × 4320. This is four times the resolution of 4K and 16 times that of 1080p. According to Sharp, the optimal viewing distance for a 70-inch 8K TV is just 68cm, which is about 75% of the TV’s height, aiming to bring viewers closer for an immersive experience.

In terms of image quality, the Sharp 8K TV comes equipped with Sharp's exclusive color technology and a direct backlight area control system. It supports regional light control, local backlight compensation, and has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The TV also supports Dolby Vision HDR and BDA-HDR, along with a quantum dot wide color gamut. Additionally, it includes a column-type SoundBar with three built-in speakers for enhanced audio performance.

Under the hood, the TV is powered by a 64-bit quad-core 1GHz CPU, a six-core Mali-T450 GPU, and runs on a 64-bit operating system. It has 5GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, HDMI 2.0, and USB 3.0 ports. The TV also features intelligent voice control and is equipped with four high-power speakers for superior sound quality.
