Aunt Zhang often spots this printer on sale. She jumps at the chance to order one. The appeal of this machine lies in its ability to print photos beautifully. It didn't let me down; the quality was impressive. However, the overseas purchasing process was somewhat convoluted... Let me share my experience.
Initially, my family needed help printing study materials, and relatives asked me to assist with scanning old photos. While browsing Aunt Zhang's updates, I noticed Amy Cheung’s TS9020 was discounted. It seemed comparable to the domestic TS9080, which costs around 2500 yuan, making it a great deal. I decided to sign up for a China Amazon account and apply for a 30-day free trial (membership). After searching for the TS9020, I discovered that the red version couldn’t use the membership discount. So I patiently waited half a month until I could finally join the membership and make the purchase. By then, the price had risen significantly, and the tax package cost over 1300 yuan. I envied those who bought it later when the price dropped.
Here’s the product description: Canon TS9020 Wireless Photo All-In-One Printer, Copier, Scanner - supports mobile/tablet printing, AirPrint™, Google Cloud Print, CD/DVD printing. Released on December 16th, it’s part of the top models in the TS series. It features a 5.0-inch color touchscreen with a simple and user-friendly interface. It can handle multiple paper sizes and types simultaneously, including square formats (127*127mm) and ID card-sized prints.

Now, let me share my initial struggles with the overseas buying journey.
After waiting over 20 days, my printer finally arrived.
At first glance, it looked like a second-hand item… Regardless, I opened the box!
The unboxing experience was promising. Following the instructions, I started removing the protective tape and powering it on.
Unfortunately, I encountered Error 5001. I initially thought it was due to missing ink cartridges. I installed them but still got the same error.
I learned the hard way that installing ink cartridges requires careful attention. I attempted to remove the cartridges myself, resulting in the above issues. Ultimately, after reinstalling the cartridges, I still faced errors.
This led me to return the printer through Amazon. Their return process was smooth, and during the return, the price dropped significantly. I immediately ordered another one, which arrived within 15 days this time!
From the previous experience, I decided to check the printer’s functionality first. Thankfully, it booted up without errors. Carefully following the instructions, I installed the ink cartridges successfully.
Next, the LCD screen prompted me to insert paper. The instructions were straightforward, and the setup process was seamless.
The printer automatically printed a test sheet, which I scanned to ensure everything was working correctly. This user-friendly feature left me satisfied.
Regarding the driver issue, as this is a parallel import, the software was in English. I downloaded the regional driver from the Canon website, which I’ll share here for anyone looking to use this printer conveniently.

A crucial reminder: when searching for the driver, use “ts9080†to locate the correct version.
If the download installs smoothly, that’s ideal. Unfortunately, I faced some issues, so I had to install three separate drivers manually.
After completing the installations, the printer worked flawlessly. Next, I tackled the connection issue with my router. Since my router uses automatic channels, the printer struggled to connect. Changing the channel to below 11 resolved the problem. If you face similar difficulties, try adjusting your router’s channel settings.
Let’s examine the printing quality. The printer provided three test photos, and the results were impressive. The six-color ink cartridges produced excellent photo prints.
Black-and-white prints were equally satisfactory. Lastly, I tested the CD-ROM printing feature. Unfortunately, the printed images turned out blurry, and touching them caused ink smudging. This seemed to be a design flaw.
As for the scanning function, I scanned a few old photos. The outcome was acceptable, though the colors appeared faded. I won’t upload them here.
Overall, the printer excels in photo printing and has a decent capacity. The six-color ink cartridges deliver remarkable photo quality. The scanning function works well, and there’s a silent mode to reduce printing noise. It also has an SD card printing feature. Its auto bandwidth and voltage compatibility make it suitable for domestic 220V usage, eliminating the need for a transformer.
However, like most inkjet printers, it has drawbacks. It’s prone to nozzle clogging, and having a USB port would be beneficial. With such a large touchscreen, it’s disappointing that it doesn’t support USB drives. The ink cartridges are also relatively small, meaning frequent replacements. High-quality imitations might save money, but they may affect the original color accuracy. Other aspects require further exploration.
Wishing everyone a smooth overseas purchasing journey! And thank you for your support.
