VR Network reports that the fifth Guangxi Youth Science Festival is set to take place on September 16 at the Guangxi Science and Technology Museum, with the event running until October 31. Organized jointly by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Association for Science and Technology, the Civilized Office, the Department of Education, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Guangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, the festival aims to inspire young minds through science and technology.
The Guangxi Science and Technology Museum, the Guangxi Youth Science and Technology Center, and the Guangxi Youth Education and Training Center are the main organizers. The event offers a wide range of activities, from interactive exhibitions to hands-on experiences, making it a must-visit for students and science enthusiasts alike.
Upon entering the main venue, visitors can watch the opening ceremony and award ceremony, where outstanding "scientific and technological teenagers" are recognized for their curiosity and innovative spirit. In Area A, a variety of student-made scientific projects are on display, including a coin sorting machine designed to save time and labor, a portable muddy slaughter device that prevents cockroach infestations, and research into tumor microwave hyperthermia sensitizers.
In Zone B, the focus is on immersive technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Visitors can explore a light and shadow park, experience the beauty of fiber-optic light, and even travel through ancient civilizations or float in space using VR headsets. The "Science at the Tip of the Tongue" section combines food and learning, offering a unique way to discover the science behind everyday meals.
Zone C is all about drones and robotics. Visitors can build and operate their own drones, navigate obstacle courses, and even control small CS tanks. Professional agricultural drones and DIY aerial vehicles are also on display. Additionally, the museum has invited Professor Sun Weixin from the Taiwan Science Museum and Professor Li Jiawei from Tsinghua University’s Department of Life Sciences to give talks on science education and plant research, encouraging youth participation in scientific exploration.
For years, the Guangxi Youth Science Festival has become a key event in the region, engaging over 1 million young people across 14 cities. This year's edition will continue until October 31, featuring school visits, exchanges, practical workshops, and exhibitions aimed at promoting scientific literacy among young people. It remains one of Guangxi's most popular science events, combining education, fun, and innovation in a truly unforgettable way.
