Chimei subsidiary LED epitaxial wafer project settled in Foshan

Recently, Chili Optoelectronics, a subsidiary of Taiwan's Chi Mei Optoelectronics, formally signed an LED epitaxial chip project agreement with the Nanhai District Government of Foshan. The project will be located in Foshan's new light source industrial base.

Kellett's Foshan LED epitaxial chip project covers an area of 40 acres and is the second phase of the new light source industrial base. Kelipower plans to invest no less than 200 million U.S. dollars within three years, and strives to introduce 50 MOCVDs to be put into production next year.

Chen Yansong, general manager of Chili Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., said that the project's market will not be limited to downstream supporting companies in the South China Sea, and East China and North China are also targets for LED epitaxial chip products.

Bang Min, District Head of Nanhai District, said that in the next two to three years, Foshan can form 150 to 200 LED epitaxial production lines, and the industrial scale can reach 30 to 50 billion yuan. "As the upstream links in the industrial chain continue to expand, a large number of midstream and downstream enterprises will be established."
