Global contradiction in panel industry intensifies domestic panel plant's expansion against the market

The overseas market is full of smoke and the struggle between LCD manufacturers is fierce.

It is not uncommon for panel companies to cause lawsuits due to the price of LCD monitors. Behind the lawsuit, people also saw the crisis of panel companies in the "winter".

The intensification of contradictions under the "winter"

Losses, huge fines,... The days of the recent global panel companies have not been very good.

On December 7, six computer and LCD manufacturers, including Sharp and Samsung Electronics, which had been sued by LCD buyers for allegedly monopolizing and manipulating prices, eventually chose to pay a $388 million settlement.

In this regard, industry-recognized observer Luo Qingqi believes: “Punishment measures cannot change the existing situation and the dilemmas faced by enterprises. It is equivalent to cutting a little flesh and not solving the fundamental problems. Monopolistic disputes are getting more and more intense, and the whole reaction is intense. The entire panel market is under tremendous pressure, and the phenomenon is just an external manifestation of stress."

It is understood that the global panel sales have been declining since the beginning of this year, and the economic situation has been turbulent. The European debt crisis has caused panel makers to increase their pressure. The expectation is that in the second half of the year, the price of the panel will pick up and regain one city. However, the actual situation is deteriorating. In such a harsh environment, countries have issued penalties for competitors.

Only in August this year, Taiwan’s major panel makers were hit by the “fist” that the United States, the European Union, and South Korea had hit and were litigated. In addition to the contradiction between the upstream and downstream manufacturers of the panel, the conflict between the panel and the complete machine company also frequently broke out.

Luo Qingqi told reporters: “At present, the overall market structure is not good, panel companies are under pressure. Litigation reflects the contradictions between manufacturers, conflicts between different market sectors, disputes between Europe, Japan, and North America. Competitors, to seize the share, such as Samsung to prevent Sharp's expansion in the Netherlands. Panel industry under great pressure and intensification of contradictions, which is the method of competition and the two sides contain the competitive strategy."

Domestic panel enterprises

The international situation has fallen to freezing temperatures, and the domestic market is not hot. However, domestic panel makers are still rapidly expanding their industrial chains to seek to seize market initiative.

Taking BOE as an example, its expansion pace started early. Financing of the 8.5-generation LCD panel project has just been completed, and the construction of the 5.5-th generation AM-OLED production line in Ordos, with an investment of 22 billion yuan, has appeared in the market. The TCL Huaxing Photoelectric 8.5 generation LCD panel production line project has also begun to enter the mass production phase, the project will be completed by the end of next year.

However, BOE's aggressive expansion also stated that since the second half of 2011, the global terminal electronic consumer market has continued to be low, and as a result, the company’s main LCD panel prices continue to decline, causing the company to generate large operating losses in 2011. Wei Jing, the director of the brand promotion department of BOE, also told reporters: "This year's performance refers to the previous performance forecast."

The BOE Third Quarterly Report showed that operating income in the third quarter was 3.57 billion yuan, up 77.34% year-on-year; net profit loss was 928 million, down 106.99% year-on-year. The 2011 performance is expected to have a loss of 3.2 billion to 300 million yuan.

“The key to passing pressure on panel companies is not to operate and complain, but rather to have anti-monopoly tactical means. Although domestic companies are under pressure, they are still very much conscientious and need to scramble to become their own industry,” said Luo Qingqi.

Analysts in the industry believe that "China has a large number of TV sets for export. We can use our own screen without purchasing other people's screens, improve the entire industry chain, and realize vertical integration of the industry chain. We should work hard in this direction."
