Mobile Internet: The Ladder of Innovation Entering the Era of Internet of Things

At the two sessions this year, Premier Wen Jiabao once again emphasized in the government report to accelerate the demonstration and application of strategic emerging industries such as the Internet of Things. This is another strong push from the state to the Internet of Things industry since China's Internet of Things industry has achieved a good start in 2011. I think these strategic initiatives of the central government are very consistent with the current development trend of the entire information industry.

The deep integration of computing and communication is an important trend in the development of the information industry, and also the only way to realize the Internet of Things. Ordinary people have the deepest experience of this trend than the convenient life brought to them by the mobile Internet. People can watch mobile TV, write cloud diaries, share photos anytime and anywhere through smart terminals such as mobile phones and tablets, and even interact with the representatives of the two conferences on Weibo during work.

In addition to affecting personal life, the mobile Internet has also stimulated a large number of exciting innovation opportunities through integration with various industries! Not long ago, when I was interviewed by CCTV "China Financial Report" "Mobile Internet-Layout under Disruption", I gave an example: Today, cars are incorporating more and more intelligent elements based on mobile Internet technology. Such as 3D navigation, real-time traffic maps, networked games, remote diagnosis, etc. These functions not only provide drivers with a more comfortable, safe and convenient travel experience, but also make urban traffic management more intelligent and efficient. "Intelligent Transportation", a popular IoT application, is therefore possible.

In addition to "smart transportation", mobile Internet technology is prompting the realization of popular Internet of Things applications such as smart homes, smart medical care, and smart grids. As one of Intel's top five research institutes in the world, Intel China Research Institute has been closely following the development trend of mobile Internet since its establishment, and has carried out a lot of research related to applications, interconnection, software, architecture, input and output and other fields. The accumulation of these technologies makes us believe that in the future, people will not only want to have a faster, smaller, and more power-saving smartphone. What they really want is a more intelligent, safe, and consistent mobile Internet experience; and the entire industry Driven by this demand, we will transition from the era of mobile Internet to the era of true Internet of Things.

Based on this belief, we have carried out a lot of research aimed at using mobile Internet technology to promote the development of the Internet of Things. There is a study called "smart home system", which can use the mobile Internet to connect TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, etc., so that people can manage them anytime, anywhere. At the same time, these devices can also intelligently serve people's home life according to the lifestyle habits of family members, such as recommending some of the latest food information, etc .; we are also studying how to let the camera at home analyze the facial features of everyone entering the home. Calculate to determine whether they are relatives, friends, or strangers, and immediately push this information to the smart terminal; in addition, we also work with colleagues in Intel USA to combine digital medical equipment and "smart home system" to measure blood pressure for the elderly , Remind them to take medicine on time and adjust the dosage flexibly. I believe that the future "smart home system" will make people's lives safer and more comfortable.

In 2011, the scale of mobile Internet users in China alone reached 356 million, and 50% of China Mobile's business volume has been composed of traffic services. Many domestic companies have seized the opportunities of mobile Internet innovation and launched various devices and applications that serve people's connected lives. I believe that the vigorous demand of China's mobile Internet market and the innovation of industry, academia, and research will certainly accelerate the advent of the Internet of Things era.
