Between January and March 2017, China's lighting industry witnessed a significant rise in exports to Brazil, with a total value of $129 million USD (approximately RMB 868 million). This represents a growth of 27.41% compared to the same period the previous year. Lighting fixtures accounted for the largest share of this total, with exports reaching $0.84 billion USD, which constitutes 65.36% of the overall figure. These fixtures saw an impressive year-over-year increase of 39%. Electric light sources, or light bulbs, followed closely behind with $36 million USD in exports, representing 28.15% of the total and showing a modest rise of 9.9%. Additionally, self-powered lighting fixtures experienced a cumulative export value of $0.08 billion USD (6.05%)—an increase of 7.23% year-over-year. Discharge lamps and discharge tubes also made strides, with exports totaling $0.01 billion USD (0.44%), marking a robust year-over-year growth of 107.94%.
In terms of regional distribution, exports were primarily concentrated in key provinces and cities such as Zhejiang, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu, and Shanghai. Zhejiang led the pack with total exports amounting to $45 million USD, which accounted for 34.73% of the national total—a 5.36% increase from the prior year. Guangdong came in second with cumulative exports of $40 million USD, representing 31.41% of the national total. Other regions also contributed significantly to the overall performance, highlighting the diverse strengths across different areas of the country.
