In 2012, when we launched Dolby Atmos®, a groundbreaking cinema audio system that brought immersive cinematic experiences to moviegoers, I began to imagine that I and millions of other viewers How much better the home theater sound performance is. After listening to the exciting cinema sounds created by Dolby Atmos, I know that home entertainment may be taken to a whole new level.
So our research team and home theater team began to work on bringing Dolby Atmos into the living room. Our goal is to make home theater sounds go beyond the past, while giving audiophiles the flexibility to choose how the system is built. I am proud to announce that through unremitting vision, experimentation and innovation, we have succeeded in creating an unparalleled Dolby Atmos family experience that all audio and video enthusiasts can enjoy. Bring the Dolby Atmos experience to the home
The extraordinary ability of Dolby Atmos allows the sound to flow from your top. For example, in the movie Noah, the Dolby Atmos in the theater will make you feel like the rain is pouring down from your top. Similarly, if you watch Godzilla in the Dolby Atmos theater, the monster roar from above the body is not only realistic, it is even more frightening.
You may be wondering how to reproduce this effect in your own living room? We strive to make it as easy as possible to bring Dolby Atmos home, so there are several options for you.
If you are happy and able to install speakers on the ceiling, you have some great options. If this doesn't work for you – for many, it won't work – our partners offer new speakers that support Dolby Atmos, which can be used in traditional speakers. The location creates a full, delicate sound from above the head.
If you already have a favorite speaker, you can also choose to add a speaker module that supports Dolby Atmos as a complement to existing speakers. (In fact, many people will put this module directly on the existing speakers). If there is no speaker above the head, how do we create a sense of sound from above the head? This is complicated, but it can be attributed to two things: understanding sonic physics and understanding how the brain interprets these sound waves.
Our partners will also provide home theater receivers and other entertainment devices to decode and present the Dolby Atmos experience in your home. Also, you may not need a new Blu-ray player, and existing players that are fully compliant with the Blu-ray specification will be able to support Dolby Atmos content on Blu-ray discs.
However, Dolby Atmos is not just about hardware. In essence, it is a powerful innovation tool that allows filmmakers to fully convey the impact of their artistic ideas with extremely natural and realistic sounds. We are working with film companies and production companies to help them create Dolby Atmos audio tracks for a wide range of movies and TV shows to meet the needs of home viewing.
