IDC Raises China's Tablet PC Shipment Expectations This Year

IDC raised its forecast for China's 2011 multimedia tablet device shipments to 4.68 million units, and is expected to reach 11.54 million units in 2015. According to Ms. Huo Jinjie, IDC's vice president of Asia Pacific research, the rapid development of the mobile Internet market and consumer electronics market, consumer groups, especially the younger groups' consumption levels, changes in consumption habits, and the rapid growth of new channels, are the multimedia tablet market. Xue Tao, Research Manager of IDC China's Personal Systems Research Department, believes that in 2011 China's multimedia tablet device market will exhibit the following characteristics:

1. In the first quarter of 2011, total shipments of the multimedia tablet device market in China reached 855,000 units, an increase of only 5.3% from the fourth quarter of 2010, which was lower than expected. The main reason is that parts and components are out of stock, and consumer confidence is still affected by macroeconomic factors, especially CPI. In the second quarter, with the advent of iPad2 and a large number of new products from other core manufacturers entering this market, the Chinese multimedia tablet device market will continue to maintain a high growth rate of more than 40%.

2. From the perspective of sales in the first quarter of 2011, Apple is the absolute leading manufacturer with a market share of nearly 60%. Samsung is currently ranked second, but its market share is only about 3%. The strength of the other top ten vendors is relatively close, with small brands and cottages currently occupying about 22% of the market. IDC expects the multimedia tablet device market will face a new round of reshuffling with the addition of many core vendors.

3. From the hardware and software configuration point of view, the majority of equipment using ARM processors, 9.7-inch and 7-inch screen is the mainstream display size of this market. 16GB and 32GB of storage capacity, equipped with WiFi products account for most of the market capacity, while Apple's iOS operating system and the Android system is evenly matched.

4. From the industry distribution point of view, most of the products on the market today are concentrated on home platforms, but many core manufacturers have already begun to vigorously promote the application of multimedia tablet devices in the commercial field, such as education, financial services, catering services, retail logistics, government public security In other industries, it is believed that future industry applications will be one of the important factors to promote this market growth. From a channel perspective, retail currently accounts for about three-quarters of the market share, and similar large-scale e-commerce platforms such as Taobao, JD.com, and Pat have also performed very well in this market.

According to this market share "pie chart", Samsung's share is difficult to draw.
