The first release version is the basic function package of 5G air interface technology. It is applied to scenarios that support only dual connectivity non-independent deployment based on LTE. Its freezing and release is another important milestone in 5G standardization. Among them, China Mobile, as the sole reporter and editor-in-chief of the agreement, led the completion of the 5G air interface scenario and demand research project, and exported the 3G air interface technical program document 3GPP TR 38.913.
On December 21st, the first edition of the 5G standard was divided into two schemes: non-independent networking (NSA: Non-Stand Alone) and independent networking (SA: Stand Alone). As a transitional solution, the non-independent networking aims to improve the bandwidth of the hotspot area, and relies on the 4G base station and the 4G core network. According to the 3GPP's promotion schedule, the 5G independent networking (SA) standard will freeze the functional part in June 2018, and the overall standard will be frozen in the third quarter. The first version of the 5G global standard will be formally confirmed. .
