New Concept 4K with Ultra HD/OLED and Quantum Dots What is Black Tech

When it comes to purchasing home appliances, many people know that the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day Festival each year are both peak seasons for sales of home appliances, and also one of the biggest sales promotions for merchants during the year. I believe that just past the eleven long holidays, there are certainly many friends who are prepared to buy new home appliances at home to find time to visit the surrounding appliance stores.
However, if everyone is rushing to buy a new TV, maybe many of my friends will have the same feeling, that is, besides being dazzled by new brands of TVs in the mall, they will also be affected by various new TV programs. Concepts, new technologies, and new standards are overwhelming, and they may even be somewhat foolhardy.
It's true that if it's not for professionals, it's really hard to figure out what the terms "Ultra HD", "QDs" and "HDR" mean. Well, today Shanghai Home Grid has made a professional lesson for those friends who have recently purchased TV programs.
4K and Ultra HD
There is no doubt that no matter what color TV sales area you are in now, the "4K" must be the most prominent. Indeed, as 720P has basically been eliminated, 1080P has gradually become the configuration of low-end or small-size TVs. "4K" is now the standard for almost all new high-end flat-panel TVs. "4K" is actually a TV resolution of 3840 × 2160, and this resolution is exactly 4 times that of a 1080P (2K) TV. Of course, the higher the resolution, the better it can restore every detail in the picture, each close-up, so that the audience has an immersive experience.

As for "Ultra HD," currently refers to more than 1080P (2K) image resolution standards, 4K naturally included, of course, 8K also belongs to the Ultra HD category, so Ultra HD is more extensive, 4K is more specific .
OLEDs and Quantum Dots As mentioned earlier, 4K has become a mainstream in the current color TV market. If subdivided, 4K TV can be mainly divided into two types of panel: OLED and LCD. This is the same as before the 4K standard was introduced. However, both have now obtained the resolution evolution. OLED is the main type of panel that LG, Skyworth and others push, has self-luminous, high contrast and other characteristics, is the industry's best known quality panel technology, the disadvantage is that the price is expensive, the size is subject to certain restrictions.

LCD, also known as the LCD camp, includes a large number of manufacturers such as Samsung, Sony, and Hisense, while the "quantum dots" are a more advanced panel backlight technology. By replacing the LED phosphor powder with a more superior quantum dot crystal as a backlight source. Improve the color cast of the LCD itself. But then again, quantum dot TV is still a LCD TV, not a brand new display panel technology. Quantum dot technology is relatively mature, the manufacturing process is relatively complete, and the cost is relatively low. This is the main reason why many manufacturers choose quantum dot technology. Domestic TCL exerts its force on high-end and middle-end, focusing on research and development of curved quantum dot television, which is a typical representative.
HDR
This year, the concept of "HDR" has become a new darling of major TV manufacturers, which also makes many consumers confused. HDR, in short, is a high dynamic range image enhancement technology, which can make the color and brightness restore more realistic and more powerful. In addition, it can also solve the problem of black and bright light in the dark part of the original color TV. They have certain requirements for the hardware of the TV, which stipulates that at least 1000 nits (LCD) and 540 nits (OLED) brightness panels are in compliance with the standard, and at least 10 bits of color depth must be displayed. In other words, QDs and OLED TVs can all be HDR TVs as long as their panel brightness is up to standard and the software supports certain HDR standards.

Dolby Vision and HDR 10
"Dolby Vision" and "HDR 10" are the two most important standards for current HDR video. The difference between them is that from the color gamut point of view, Dolby vision uses 12-bit color depth, and HDR 10 uses 10-bit color depth. Second, Dolby Vision uses dynamic or continuous raw data to dynamically adjust each manufacturer's color and brightness, even for each frame, which is more flexible for content producers; while HDR 10 uses static data. That means only segmented rendering.
Dolby Vision is also currently widely used among major manufacturers in the "HDR 10" standard, such as Hisense, Sony, Samsung, LG, etc., while TCL, Skyworth, Vizio and other manufacturers support Dolby vision.
HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0A
The last concept is not new, but it is often overlooked by many people when they purchase color TVs. That is the interface. Currently, the HDMI 1.4 standard interface is the standard for mainstream 4K TVs, and it can achieve 4K/30fps picture input. But if you want to buy HDR TV, or want to use 4K TV as a game monitor, it is best to choose the HDMI 2.0 interface model. HDMI 2.0 can achieve 60fps picture, while HDMI 2.0A is the necessary standard for HDR function.
