At numerous exhibitions in 2017, small-pitch LED screens became the standard model for LED display solutions, showcasing their growing importance.

The rising popularity of small-pitch LED products has been recognized as a major milestone in the market, marking a shift from DLP to more advanced solutions. As a result, the pixel pitch in most DLP splicing projects is now set at 1.2 mm. While DLP splicing products can offer higher pixel density and even achieve physical seams as small as 0.5 mm or less, the industry acknowledges that P1.2 mm small-pitch LED screens still meet the required splicing density. The widespread adoption of P1.2 mm products signals a competitive shift between small-pitch LED and DLP video walls, moving from low-end to high-end market segments.
However, there are still concerns within the industry regarding high-density pixel products. For instance, P1.2 mm products require nearly 60% more lamp beads per unit area compared to P1.5 mm models. This increase raises challenges in quality control and service standards. Some critics argue that pushing for smaller pixel pitches may not be sustainable. But advocates believe that through technological innovation and structural improvements, economic and yield issues can be resolved over time. Just like how P2.0 products were once expensive but are now widely used in cost-effective applications, the same trend is expected for smaller pitch solutions.
Many industry experts agree that the demand for high-precision LED screens has not yet reached its peak. In fact, the market potential remains strong, especially with the increasing need for high-resolution displays in various sectors.
At this year’s exhibitions, many small-pitch LED screen exhibitors demonstrated their enthusiasm for creative display solutions. Beyond just large-scale visuals, they are incorporating more shaped, three-dimensional, and unique designs—often based on high-density pixel units. These creative projects typically involve close viewing distances and limited areas, which require ultra-small pixel pitches to deliver optimal visual performance. As a result, small-pitch LED screens are not only becoming more common but also evolving into versatile tools for innovative display applications.
