Truck driver built-in sensors prevent fatigue driving

Fatigue driving is one of the most dangerous issues on the road, especially for long-haul truck drivers. As they spend hours behind the wheel on highways, their driving becomes more automated, increasing the risk of accidents. To address this growing concern, Ford Brazil has introduced an innovative solution: a smart hat called SafeCap designed to detect signs of drowsiness and alert drivers before it's too late. At first glance, SafeCap looks like any regular cap, but beneath its simple exterior lies advanced technology. The hat is equipped with sensors, accelerometers, and gyroscopes that monitor the driver’s head movements and posture. These sensors can detect subtle changes in behavior that indicate fatigue, such as nodding off or unusual head tilting. When the system identifies signs of tiredness, SafeCap sends out three different types of alerts: vibration, sound, and flashing lights. These signals serve as a timely reminder for the driver to pull over and take a break, helping to prevent potential accidents caused by impaired concentration. Ford spent eight months testing the device with a group of professional drivers to ensure its effectiveness and reliability. According to the company, fatigue driving is just as dangerous as drunk or distracted driving. It slows reaction times and increases the likelihood of falling asleep at the wheel, which can lead to complete loss of control over the vehicle. Although the concept is promising, Ford isn’t planning to launch SafeCap immediately. After completing the testing phase, the company will move forward with patenting the design and obtaining necessary certifications. Additionally, Ford aims to collaborate with partners and customers to eventually bring the product to market. This innovation shows how technology can play a crucial role in improving road safety. While SafeCap may not be available yet, it represents a step toward smarter, safer driving solutions for the future.

Rack DC Power Supplies

SMP series Rack-mounted DC Power Supplies are economical, MOSFETs-based, high switching speed, high power density DC power supplies with output power covering 300W ~ 6KW, and maximum voltage up to 800VDC.

Compared with IGBT-based DC switching power supplies, MOSFET-based switching power supplies have a higher switching frequency, making this series Rack DC power supplies can use smaller semiconductor devices and LC filter units while ensuring low ripple, high precision, and fast response characteristics of the Power Supplies DC output. Which gives more space to use a smaller chassis size at the same output power, resulting the high-power density feature of this series Rack Mounted DC power supplies.

The main design purpose of this series of Rack mount DC power supplies is to fulfill the needs of small test systems for miniaturization, high power density, and rack mountable. At present, this series of Rack DC power supplies uses rack-mounted chassis for all models above 1KW, some models below 1KW still adopt desktop chassis to match laboratory applications, they are mainly used in LED testing, small electroplating, heating of new materials, electrical component testing and other applications.
