On September 19, China Telecom launched two smartphones with a price of 990 yuan and an Android 2.1 operating system at the launch of the 1,000 yuan 3G smartphone: Huawei's C8500 and ZTE N600. Different from the Shanzhai phones, which once drastically lowered the price of the mobile phone market, this time it was the two well-known telecommunications equipment manufacturers who played the price killer in the smart phone market.

The author believes that the development of mobile communication content from voice to data and integrated circuit SoC (chip-on-a-chip) technology will completely overturn the mobile phone market, because data is a good trick for computing manufacturers, and SoC shields the complexity of technology from within the chip. The complexity of the hardware system that traditional mobile phone manufacturers rely on no longer exists. Nowadays, Apple, Google, Microsoft's operating system and embedded Linux have made Nokia's Symbian only parry. Before that, MediaTek had a sudden rise in the mobile phone market, relying on SoC technology.

This time, Huawei and ZTE launched a thousand-yuan smart phone. On the surface, it is the counterattack of telecommunications companies. In essence, it is the conversion of telecommunications companies to computing. The reason why the author is optimistic about Huawei and ZTE, is that Huawei and ZTE such telecommunication equipment manufacturers can subvert people's thinking that "the low price of mobile phones is necessarily low quality."

Normally telecommunication operators have very strict requirements on the reliability of telecommunication equipment, and high quality has become one of the brand attributes of telecommunication equipment manufacturers. Therefore, telecommunications equipment vendors have sufficient knowledge and experience to extend the quality control of telecommunication equipment to mobile terminal manufacturing. Take a step back, the quality of mobile phones will directly affect the brand. Therefore, the author prefers to believe that Huawei's and ZTE's thousand-dollar smart phones use the market strategy of Shanzhai, and the quality should be the quality of Huawei or ZTE.

From the market point of view, the thousand yuan smart phone is to extend the smart phone from the high-end to the low-end market to a greater extent, rather than aiming at the fight against high-end smart phones. In the smart phone market, Microsoft will start a big night and catch up with a late set. It will take a long time to make a big comeback. Only desperately betting on Windows Phone 7.
