According to Mark Grodzinsky, chairman of the WiGig marketing group, the first products supporting wireless DP technology will be available next year, and the time to market is expected to be between late 2011 and early 2012.

The WiGig Alliance also announced today that the functions of the WiGig 1.0 A/V and I/O Protocol Adaptation Layer (PLA) specifications have been finalized and will be publicly released in early 2011. It supports a variety of system interfaces, including expansion of PC peripherals and display interfaces for HDTVs, monitors, and projectors.

The WiGig A/V PAL supports wireless transmission of audio/video data and can be used on wireless display interfaces and other HDCP 2.0 compatible display interfaces. WiGig I/O PAL defines a high-performance computer interface on the 60GHz radio frequency band that supports Gigabit wireless connectivity between any two devices, such as connecting to memory and other high-speed peripherals.
