Mainland's acquisition of Osram rejected Chinese companies are expected to share

According to the German "Manager Magazine", the Continental Group intends to acquire a 17% stake in Siemens in OSRAM this summer, but was rejected. OSRAM intends to engage with Chinese companies.

"Manager Magazine" pointed out that the mainland intends to acquire 17% of Osram's shares at a price of 50 euros per share, which is the last chance for German companies to lead Osram.

Continental, OSRAM and Siemens declined to comment on this report. Osram is a leader in automotive lighting, and its current main products include smart LED headlights and special diodes for laser radar. Lidar can be used in a sensor system for self-driving cars with light detection and distance scanning.

Chinese capital

Osram had previously approached China's Sanan Optoelectronics to discuss acquisition or cooperation issues. According to another report, OSRAM is also interested in cooperating with China's financial investment institution GSR Go Scale Capita. A series of reports about the acquisition of Osram by Chinese companies have paralyzed the German government and wondered whether or not to interfere in protecting its core technology.

Osram shares between 42.85 and 51 euros per share from June to August this year. Shares rose 0.1% on Thursday (20th), at 54.11 euros.
