Texas Instruments (TI) today announced the industry's highest integrated piezoelectric haptic driver for high-definition consumer, automotive and industrial touchscreen applications. The DRV2667 features a digital interface, an integrated 15-to 105V boost converter, power diodes, and a 40 to 200V peak-to-peak (Vpp) fully differential amplifier for a complete single-chip solution size that is less than half the size of competing solutions. In addition, the DRV2667 features an I2C-controlled digital playback engine that takes over the haptic effects of the host processor.

• Maximum integration: Digital waveform generation is highly integrated with high voltage drivers and 2kB RAM, eliminating the need for external components and allowing the DRV2667 to store and instantly recall haptic waveforms. The drive enables real-time playback of a variety of haptic effects, such as haptic effects from the Immersion TouchSense® 5000 haptic effects library;
